“Sound Lense” Effect

As every other city, Kiev has its own unusual attractions. They are not known to the average visitor to Kiev, but these unusual places have become the subject of interest for curious people.

For example, like the yard with the big crows. One of my friends was standing very close and only luck (combined with the skills of martial arts’ expert) helped him to avoid the frustration. These big birds are very smart and strong and can bite one nicely. That is why people prefer to watch them from the safe distance

The list of unusual attractions was recently updated with a new one. After the old line of Kiev subway got its new line (with the new subway stations) attached. Our subject of interest is Demiivska station.

When you are coming from Demiivska to Lybidska station, at the very end when the train is nearly to come out to Lybidska, you can hear a fantastic clear sound.

As if you are riding in some sort of aircraft. 3-5 seconds of unbelievable experience. Especially when you close the eyes.

This sound is produced by the air wave that goes right before the subway train. And when it reaches Lybidska station, the wave reaches its maximum. Wow!

The best time to ride and witness this unusual attraction is in the hours that are free from the rush. The best time is between 2 pm and 4 pm. No crowds in the train, you can sit back, relax, close the eyes and enjoy until it reaches the peak.

When riding in the train, pay attention, you will notice people trying this “Sound Lense” effect, just to broaden their vision of Kiev.
